Theme and Objectives
Building on the success of earlier editions (the 5th CI2C was held under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI and emphasized decarbonization), the 6th CI2C broadens its scope to encompass adaptation, mitigation, loss and damage, and resilience. Its overarching theme – “Climate Solutions for a Sustainable Future” – highlights the urgent need for integrated approaches. Recent IPCC findings (global warming of ~1.1–1.3 °C above pre-industrial levels) and the alarming projection of +2–4 °C by century’s end underline the stakes. Global forums such as COP29 (Baku 2024) have called for tripling climate finance for developing countries by 2035 to boost adaptation and mitigation capacity. In this context, CI2C 2025 aims to foster “comprehensive and cross-border solutions to address the current climate crisis.” The conference seeks to mobilize a diverse range of participants, including policymakers, international organizations, academic experts, doctoral researchers, private-sector representatives, and civil society actors interested in the nexus of climate change and sustainable territorial development.
