Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2019 shortlist

Stunning images of space and the cosmos

Take a look at these stunning images, all of which have been shortlisted in the Royal Observatory's Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2019.

The competition has now been running for 10 years and celebrates the world's most spectacular space images photographed by both amateurs and professionals.

Winners to be announced in September, followed by an exhibition at the National Maritime Museum.

I think my favorite is 'Aurora is a bird', but they're all amazing, it's impossible to choose!

FYI: this poster image is from Pixabay. It's not part of the shortlist.
