Meeting Summary

Title: B Cell and Antibody Responses

Date: February 8 - 11, 2027
Location: Mercure London Earls Court, London, UK

Scientific Organizers: Gabriel D. Victora, Pia Dosenovic, and Andrea Reboldi

Keynote Speaker(s): Facundo D. Batista, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University

In addition to their essential role in defending against infection, B cells contribute to a wide range of immune processes, from driving allergic and autoimmune reactions to influencing cancer progression. The goal of the 'B cell and antibody responses' Symposium is to bring together scientists who have been driving forward these various aspects of B cell biology. We aim to provide a broad overview of ongoing efforts along two fronts: half of the program covers classic topics in the field—germinal centers, memory,  vaccination—whereas the other half brings in topics that are not part of the traditional canon, including the structural basis of immunogenicity, B cell responses outside of secondary lymphoid organs, and efforts to treat diseases not classically regarded as B cell-driven. We expect this Symposium, in addition to bringing together the traditional B cell biology community, will also expose scientists to ground-breaking work done in areas that they do not normally attend to. By combining basic science with disease-oriented research in a single meeting, we hope attendees will leave with clear insights into both routine and cutting-edge methods, forge new connections across disciplines, and develop novel ideas for advancing B cell research in health and disease.

Induced Proximity and Targeted Protein Degradation: Emerging Technologies and Therapeutic Applications

February 8 - 11, 2027 @ Fairmont Banff Springs, Banff, AB, Canada

Important Deadlines

Early Registration Deadline: December 10, 2026

Scholarship Deadline: October 14, 2026

Short Talk Abstract Deadline: October 14, 2026

Poster Abstract Deadline: January 19, 2027

Meeting Summary

Title: Induced Proximity and Targeted Protein Degradation: Emerging Technologies and Therapeutic Applications

Date: February 8 - 11, 2027
Location: Fairmont Banff Springs, Banff, AB, Canada

Scientific Organizers: Christina Woo, William Forrester, and Alessio Ciulli

Keynote Speaker(s): Opening and Closing Keynotes to be announced

Targeted protein degradation and other induced proximity modalities are now established concepts in fundamental chemical biology and are transforming therapeutic discovery. Induced Proximity and Targeted Protein Degradation: Emerging Technologies and Therapeutic Applications will showcase the latest mechanistic insights and clinical progress, highlight innovations in the field, and foster interactions that catalyze the exchange of new ideas for disease targeting strategies. The meeting brings together recognized leaders and emerging scientists to share fresh perspectives and systems.

At the heart of this field is the chemical remodeling and rewiring of protein to control biomolecular interactions, a paradigm that has delivered impact across both basic and translational research. The goal of this meeting is to unite a community that spans basic researchers to clinical scientists and to inspire new collaborations that will help deliver the next wave of breakthroughs in targeted protein degradation and induced proximity.

The program will emphasize anticipated frontiers of the field that are poised for clinical impacts, including new E3 ligases and induced proximity modalities. Sessions will focus on chemical and biological discoveries that underpin these innovations and look toward the future using next-generation technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to develop the next wave of insights and discoveries.

Autophagy in Health and Disease: From Mechanisms to Therapeutics

February 8 - 11, 2027 @ Fairmont Banff Springs, Banff, AB, Canada

Important Deadlines

Early Registration Deadline: December 10, 2026

Scholarship Deadline: October 14, 2026

Short Talk Abstract Deadline: October 14, 2026

Meeting Summary

Title: Autophagy in Health and Disease: From Mechanisms to Therapeutics

Date: February 8 - 11, 2027
Location: Fairmont Banff Springs, Banff, AB, Canada

Scientific Organizers: Hong Zhang, Susan Ferro-Novick, and Hitoshi Nakatogawa

Keynote Speaker(s): Noboru Mizushima, University of Tokyo

Autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved catabolic pathway that plays pivotal roles in cellular stress response and homeostasis maintenance. Its dysregulation is implicated in the aging process and diverse pathological conditions including neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's), cancer, metabolic syndromes (diabetes, obesity), and infectious diseases.

Substantial progress has been made in elucidating both the core autophagy machinery and systemic regulatory networks. Particularly noteworthy are the mechanistic insights gained into selective autophagy pathways — including mitophagy (mitochondrial degradation), ER-phagy (endoplasmic reticulum turnover), and aggrephagy (protein aggregate clearance) — which have illuminated the molecular basis of cargo recognition and sequestration. Recent research has significantly expanded our understanding of autophagy's physiological repertoire. Furthermore, recent studies on non-canonical autophagy pathways have uncovered their participation in diverse biological processes ranging from plasma membrane repair to antimicrobial defense and viral infection cycles.

Therapeutic exploitation of autophagy has emerged as a promising frontier, with innovative approaches like autophagy-targeting chimeras (AUTACs) enabling precise degradation of disease-causing proteins and organelles. This conference aims to synthesize current knowledge of autophagy mechanisms, functional diversity, and regulatory networks, while exploring their implications for understanding disease pathogenesis and achieving clinical translation. Through interdisciplinary dialogue, we seek to bridge fundamental discoveries with therapeutic applications, ultimately advancing autophagy-based interventions for human health.
