BioMed Central is seeking to appoint an Editor-in-Chief for Cardiovascular Diabetology - Endocrinology Reports, relaunched in 2025 as a companion title to Cardiovascular Diabetology.
Cardiovascular Diabetology - Endocrinology Reports publishes on clinical, translational and basic science aspects of all endocrine disorders e.g. metabolic syndrome, thyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, bone disorders, obesity, reproductive disorders and neuroendocrine disorders.
Through the partnership with Cardiovascular Diabetology we aim to create a strongly-connected community of researchers and clinicians within the diabetes and endocrinology field, and better support authors in finding the best home for their manuscript.
The newly appointed Editor-in-Chief will have full editorial responsibility for the content published in the Journal and for ensuring that the ethos, editorial standards, policies and scope are maintained. They will also be responsible for providing strategic guidance including preparing the journal for readiness to submit to major indexing services and overseeing the commissioning of non-research content to help broaden the readership for the journal.
Ideal candidates will be:
- Researchers or clinicians with broad experience across the field of endocrinology who are able to demonstrate their impact in the field with a publication history.
- Experienced as a journal Editor, with strong critical analysis and appraisal skills, and a good understanding of peer review and publication ethics.
- Keen supporters of Open Access publishing.
- Able to demonstrate strong leadership and motivation to build and manage an international Editorial Board.
- Excellent strategic planners with the ability to develop a clear vision for the Journal.
- Interested in building strong community relationships with endocrinologists at all levels and work closely alongside the Editors of Cardiovascular Diabetology.
- Engaged with technology and willing to use the Journal’s online submission and peer review tools.
The Journal is currently supported by the Editorial Office run by the Publisher for administrative services. The position offers an honorarium. Whilst the time commitment is flexible, we anticipate the post-holder would also have a full-time or part-time position elsewhere.
