Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Agricultural greenhouse gas emissions and mitigation.
Agriculture generates about 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions, mainly from livestock, fertilizers, and land-use changes. Growing demand for food and intensified farming may increase emissions. Sustainable practices like improved feed, efficient resource use, conservation tillage, cover crops, and agroforestry can help reduce these emissions. Supportive policies and innovation are key to building a climate-resilient agricultural system.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 7th August 2026.
Why is this Collection important?
“Agricultural ecosystem behave as both sink and source of greenhouse gases. This necessities the understanding on proper management practices of agroecosystems to work as a sink of GHGs. I hope the proposed collection will help us to encourage the researchers to showcase their valuable research findings of this area of climate science in one platform. I think researchers should submit their findings in this collection to have more visibility of their work and that will also help them for further collaboration.” - Prof. Nirmali Gogoi
This Collection also supports and amplifies research related to SDG 13: Climate Action.
Why submit to a Collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
Who is involved?
