Call for papers: Cloud computing resource management and optimisation

This Collection seeks research on innovative architectures, intelligent resource allocation methods, and practical solutions that enhance performance, sustainability, and operational efficiency in cloud computing environments.

Collection Overview

Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Cloud computing resource management and optimisation.

Managing and optimising the use of resources in cloud computing are critical as demand for scalable, high-performance infrastructure continues to grow. Modern cloud environments must balance elasticity, cost efficiency, reliability, and energy consumption while supporting diverse workloads across distributed systems. Advances in AI-driven orchestration, workload prediction, autoscaling, and scheduling algorithms have significantly improved the efficiency of compute, storage, and network resources. However, dynamic workloads and heterogeneous infrastructures still pose challenges for robust, adaptive optimisation.

This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. Narrative review articles are also welcomed to our sister journal, Scientific Reviews. We are welcoming submissions until 27th November 2026.

Comments from the Guest Editors

"We invite researchers, academicians, and industry practitioners to contribute to the  Collection on “Cloud Computing Resource Management and Optimisation”, focusing on innovative methodologies, intelligent scheduling mechanisms, scalable architectures, energy-efficient resource allocation, AI-driven optimization, and performance-aware cloud services. This Collection aims to showcase cutting-edge research addressing the challenges of efficient resource provisioning, workload balancing, virtualization, edge–cloud integration, QoS enhancement, and sustainable cloud infrastructures. Contributions highlighting practical implementations, theoretical advancements, and emerging trends in cloud and distributed computing are highly encouraged." - Dr. Urvashi Rahul Saxena

This Collection also supports and amplifies research related to SDG9 - Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure.

Why submit to a Collection?

Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.

Who is involved?

Guest Editors:

  • Sumit Bansal, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, India
