Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Drought-resistant crops
Drought-resistant crops are genetically engineered or selectively bred to withstand drought conditions with minimal impact on their productivity by improving their efficiency of water use and enhancing their root systems. Drought-resistant crops are critical in drought regions for ensuring stable yields and may be key to ensuring food availability despite unpredictable or changing growing conditions. Similarly, they are important in reducing the impacts of climate change in traditionally fertile regions experiencing changing conditions.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 28th February 2026.
Why is this Collection important?
“Drought stress is increasingly affecting crops worldwide and has become a major barrier to improving agricultural productivity, particularly in the face of climate change. This collection aims to disseminate valuable knowledge that can contribute to the development of drought-resistant crop varieties. I am excited about this initiative, as it offers an excellent platform for sharing your research with a broader audience. ” - Prasanta Subudhi
This Collection also supports and amplifies research related to SDG 2: Zero Hunger.
Why submit to a Collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
