Call for papers: Molecular mechanism of host-parasite interactions

This Collection seeks basic biology research aimed at deepening our understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying host–parasite interactions.

Collection Overview

Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Molecular mechanism of host-parasite interactions.

The molecular mechanisms of host-parasite interactions that involve how parasites invade, survive, and manipulate hosts remain key areas of research in the field. Understanding these processes helps develop treatments for parasitic infections by targeting their survival strategies and the host’s response mechanisms.

This Collection calls for submissions that focus on investigating key biochemical and cellular aspects of immune evasion, molecular signaling, parasite adaptation, host defenses, nutrient acquisition, gene regulation, drug resistance, and cellular invasion.

This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 30th April 2026.

Why is this Collection important?

“This is a research field of wide interest and not fully investigated so far in several host-parasite association. Scientists would be interested to submit their MS on several aspects and/or using different methodological approaches concerning the proposed argument. It is also of great relevance to have a MS published in Scientific Reports.” - Dr. Simonetta Mattiucci

Why submit to a Collection?

Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.

Who is involved?

Guest Editors:

  • Simonetta Mattiucci, University of Rome, Italy
  • Ajith Y., Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, India
  • Chaoqun Yao,  Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, Saint Kitts and Nevis

Internal Team:

  • In-House Editor: Sumedha Kondekar, Scientific Reports, India
  • Commissioning Editor: Ashiya Salim, Fully OA Brands, Springer Nature, UK
  • Managing Editor: Libby Symons, Fully OA Brands, Springer Nature, UK
