Call for papers: Women’s brain health

With this Collection, editors invite primary, translational, and clinical research submissions focusing on women’s brain health.

What is this collection about?

Many brain-related disorders disproportionately impact women. From neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, headaches, multiple sclerosis, and ME/CFS, to neuropsychiatric conditions such as anxiety and depression. Other conditions like stroke or ADHD are often under- or misdiagnosed in women. Life events such as pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause can impact brain health. Yet the importance of studying women’s brain health is only starting to be appreciated by researchers, journals, and policy-makers.

With this Collection, Nature Progress Brain Health, Nature Neuroscience, Nature Mental Health, Nature Communications, Communications Health, Communications Biology, and Scientific Reports invite primary, translational, and clinical research submissions focusing on women’s brain health. Topics include, but are not limited to, pregnancy and maternal brain health, menopause, women’s brain aging, the role of sex or gender in neurological and psychiatric disorders, and public health. Please note that Communications Biology and Scientific Reports will not consider clinical studies.

Relevant papers will be highlighted in this collection, along with other article types, such as Perspectives and Comments, that provide significant insights into addressing the data gaps in women's brain health.

Why is this collection important?

This is a cross-journal collection between Nature Progress Brain Health, Nature Neuroscience, Nature Mental Health, Nature Communications, Communications Health, Communications Biology, and Scientific Reports. Authors are welcome to submit to any of the participating journals. All manuscripts published in the collection are hosted on a dedicated nature portfolio portal, giving articles high visibility beyond the journal they are published in.

Why submit to a collection?

Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by In-House Editors who are experts in their fields and supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature.
