Celebrating EBSA 2025

The European Biophysical Societies' Association (EBSA) Congress took place on 30 June - 4 July 2025 in Rome, Italy

The European Biophysical Societies' Association (EBSA) Congress 2025, held from 30 June to 4 July in the historic city of Rome, Italy, brought together the global biophysics community for five days of vibrant scientific exchange, collaboration, and innovation.

This year’s congress marked a significant milestone, drawing 866 participants from 47 countries, underscoring EBSA’s growing international reach and influence. The event featured a rich and diverse scientific programme, including:

  • 8 Plenary Speakers delivering keynote addresses on cutting-edge biophysical research
  • 66 Invited Speakers sharing insights across a wide range of disciplines
  • 107 Selected Oral Presentations showcasing emerging research
  • 30 Symposia covering topics from molecular dynamics to cellular biophysics
  • 618 Posters, offering a dynamic platform for early-career researchers and seasoned scientists alike

You can view some photos from the event at end of this post.

The congress fostered a lively atmosphere of learning and networking, with attendees engaging in thought-provoking discussions, forging new collaborations, and exploring the latest advancements in biophysical science.

As EBSA continues to champion excellence in biophysics, the success of the 2025 Congress sets a high bar for future gatherings. Rome proved to be a fitting backdrop for this celebration of science, culture, and community.

The abstract book for the congress has been published with support from Springer Nature via EBSA’s own journal, the European Biophysics Journal (EBJ). Follow the link below to view the abstracts.
