Meeting Summary

Title: DNA Replication: Pathway Crosstalk Shaping Physiology and Disease

Date: April 5 - 8, 2027
Location: Mercure London Earls Court, London, UK

Scientific Organizers: Karlene A Cimprich, Alessandro Vindigni, and Massimo Lopes

Keynote Speaker(s): John F.X. Diffley †, Francis Crick Institute, and Johannes C. Walter †, Harvard Medical School

The timely progression of DNA replication is continually challenged by a variety of obstacles, such as endogenous lesions, secondary structures in the DNA template, protein-DNA complexes, and conflicts with the transcription machinery. Accurate processing of stalled or damaged replication forks is vital for maintaining genome integrity. Defects in the replication stress response pathways cause significant threats to genome stability, cell survival, and overall human health. Fine-tuning of these pathways is rapidly emerging as a key determinant of tumorigenesis and cancer therapy response. Additionally, recent research has linked aberrant replication to the induction of inflammatory responses.

This conference addresses the growing need to elucidate the numerous interfaces through which DNA replication impacts cellular physiology and human disease, focusing on coordination with transcription, DNA repair, chromatin organization, nuclear dynamics, cellular metabolism and tissue-specific adaptations. To achieve this goal, we have selected an outstanding and diverse group of speakers who are at the forefront of these fields. We will combine speakers’ presentations with career roundtables and panel discussions with scientific editors to provide attendees with comprehensive insights, from groundbreaking research to practical career advice and publication strategies.

Our meeting will bring together an interdisciplinary group working on these interrelated topics, distinguishing our conference from previous DNA replication and repair meetings. The combination of world experts in these fields will provide attendees with new insights into the many emerging processes impacting the DNA replication process, as well as potential strategies to target DNA replication-associated mechanisms in clinical settings.

*Keystone Symposia Scholarships & Awards*

Keystone Symposia offers discounted registration to students in undergraduate, M.S., Ph.D., or M.D. programs, providing access to the latest scientific advances, technologies, and approaches to further research and careers.

In addition, several financial aid opportunities are also available to support attendance at its scientific meetings:

  • Student and Postdoctoral Scholarships provide up to $1,200 to help defray travel, lodging, registration, and related costs when presenting a poster at an in-person conference. Awards are competitive, based on the abstract’s scientific quality and relevance, and you must apply by the individual scholarship deadline for the desired meeting (abstract + mentor letter required).
  • Early-Career Travel Awards (ECITAs) support early-career investigators with funding to attend meetings; these also require application by the posted deadline for each conference.
  • Global Health Travel Awards (GHTAs) provide financial aid for scientists, clinicians, fellows, and students from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to participate in select Keystone Symposia meetings, especially those focused on global health topics. These awards may cover registration, lodging, airfare, and ground transportation, and applications are submitted through the Financial Aid Portal by the listed meeting deadlines. Learn which meetings have in-person GHTAs available: https://www.keystonesymposia.org/financial-aid/global-health-awards/ghta-listing
