Tell us a bit about yourself and your early career path. What are your research interests and your background?
Koray: I am a physician-scientist and a clinical microbiologist with extensive global experience in academic research and teaching. With an interdisciplinary research trajectory spanning virology, disease ecology, and molecular epidemiology, my work focuses on virus discovery, vector-borne and zoonotic infections, wildlife-associated pathogens, and One Health approaches to emerging viral diseases.
What will Archives of Virology have to offer that will make it stand apart from other journals? What is your vision for the journal now and in the future?
Archives of Virology has a long-standing reputation as a prominent journal in its field. As Editor-in-Chief, my vision is to further elevate its global visibility, scientific impact, and relevance, in an environment with new challenges for scientific publishing.
Is there anything else about you or your editorial team that the research community should know?
With an editorial board of distinguished virologists representing a wide range of expertise, we envision a journal that not only preserves the legacy but also expands its reach and relevance to new audiences. We are working to broaden the journal’s coverage of emerging and interdisciplinary areas, while streamlining the editorial and review processes to provide a better experience for authors and maintaining high standards of scientific integrity and publishing ethics.
