Beyond the Book

Introducing the Beyond the Book Channel

Beyond the Book is a space for authors to share the stories, experiences and ideas that sit beyond the pages of a published book.

Many of the most interesting parts of a book’s journey are not always visible in the final publication. Beyond the Book is intended to give authors a place to share those stories.

What is Beyond the Book?

Beyond the Book is a dedicated Channel in Research Communities where authors who have published books with Springer Nature can tell the story behind their work. This might include the first spark of an idea to the questions and conversations that shaped the final book. It is a space for accessible, reflective, and engaging posts that help readers understand the people, process, and purpose behind published books.

A Beyond the Book blog post is not intended to be a formal book summary or a promotional description. Rather than summarising the book chapter by chapter, it is an opportunity to share the thinking, experience and wider context behind your book. It should offer something readers would not find in the book description alone, as they are often interested not only in the finished book, but in how it came to be.

Why write a Beyond the Book post?

Beyond the Book post can help you:

  • Introduce your book to readers who may not yet know your work
  • Share the thinking and motivation behind your project
  • Explain how your book connects to current debates in your field or beyond
  • Connect with readers, researchers, editors, and wider researchers
  • Continue the conversation around your book after publication
