The study investigates the packaging solutions for hazardous chemical materials, focusing on Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs). It finds that the 190 GSM FIBC is a viable alternative to the 230 GSM version, offering potential cost savings without sacrificing safety. This paper is a comparative study of two FIBC configurations, examining their compliance with UN certification requirements for hazardous materials. Both the 190 GSM and 230 GSM bags passed all six required tests, including Top Lift and Drop tests, showing no performance differences. The findings suggest that the 190 GSM bag can reduce procurement costs for high-volume orders while maintaining safety standards. However, more work is still needed to explore long-term storage and cyclic load impacts, which could further influence packaging strategies for hazardous materials. Read the full article here.
