Dr. @Satya Prakash Pati joined the Discover Applied Sciences Editorial Board in 2018. He has always been keen to contribute towards the Journal's growth and development. He expressed his interest to increase his engagement with the journal and move to the role of a Section editor when we announced the position.
We had a brief discussion about the role and its responsibilities, and he graciously accepted to be the Section editor of the journal’s section Physics/Materials Science.
Here's a short interview with our new Section Editor:
What is your current research focused on?
My current research focuses on experimental condensed matter physics with a strong emphasis on ion transport in solid-state systems for next-generation, low-power electronic devices. I investigate voltage-controlled magnetic and electronic phenomena, such as magnetic anisotropy, exchange bias, spin waves, and proton intercalation, to develop energy-efficient information processing technologies. My work also explores magnetoelectronic effects, including magnetoelectric switching and interface exchange coupling in complex magnetic multilayers. Additionally, I study spin-orbit coupling, Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interactions, and antiferromagnetic spintronics, aiming to control magnetic phase transitions at the nanoscale. A key focus is on magnetization dynamics, including spin-wave generation, spin-Hall, and spin-Seebeck effects, for innovative spintronic applications.
What are the most interesting emerging topics or new technologies/new developments in your field of research?
Emerging topics in my field include protonic neuromorphic devices that mimic biological synapses for ultra-low-power AI and healthcare applications. Voltage-controlled spintronic and magnetoelectric devices are enabling next-generation memory and logic with minimal energy dissipation. Advances in complex oxide heterostructures offer precise control of magnetic phase transitions and spin-wave dynamics. Spin caloritronics—utilizing spin-Seebeck and inverse spin Hall effects—shows promise for energy harvesting and spin-based logic. Together, these developments are driving brain-inspired and sustainable electronic technologies.
