Magnetosomes, the magnetic organelles of magnetotactic bacteria, represent a promising nanomaterial for biomedical applications. To harness their potential, we tested various foreign bacterial hosts for magnetosome biosynthesis and constructed a collection of novel magnetosome-producing strains.
