Collection Overview

Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Cloud computing resource management and optimisation.

Managing and optimising the use of resources in cloud computing are critical as demand for scalable, high-performance infrastructure continues to grow. Modern cloud environments must balance elasticity, cost efficiency, reliability, and energy consumption while supporting diverse workloads across distributed systems. Advances in AI-driven orchestration, workload prediction, autoscaling, and scheduling algorithms have significantly improved the efficiency of compute, storage, and network resources. However, dynamic workloads and heterogeneous infrastructures still pose challenges for robust, adaptive optimisation. 

This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. Narrative review articles are also welcomed to our sister journal, Scientific Reviews. We are welcoming submissions until 27th November 2026.
