Collection Overview

Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Genome editing.

Genome editing enables precise modification of target genomic loci, with impacts on basic research, biomedicine, and agriculture. Despite rapid advances, challenges remain in efficiency, specificity, delivery, and ethics.

This will be a Collection research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. Narrative review articles are also welcomed to our sister journal, Scientific Reviews. We are welcoming submissions until 27th January 2027.

Why is this Collection exciting? 

"Genome editing is transforming our ability to investigate gene function and develop precise therapeutic strategies for previously intractable diseases. Its relevance extends across basic biology, biotechnology, agriculture, and medicine, making it one of the most influential areas of contemporary research. I am particularly excited about this Collection because it will bring together innovative tools, emerging applications, and critical perspectives on efficacy, safety, and translation. By showcasing high-quality advances across the field, the Collection can stimulate collaboration and guide future research.
