Call for papers: Applications of artificial Intelligence in video- and audio-signal processing Collection
Published in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Computational Sciences
Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Applications of artificial Intelligence in video- and audio-signal processing.
Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially deep learning, has significantly impacted audio and video signal processing. With large-scale multimodal datasets and enhanced computational resources, AI is now widely used in real-time communication, media analytics, surveillance, entertainment, and assistive technologies. In audio processing, AI has advanced speech recognition, speaker identification, noise suppression, acoustic event detection, and real-time language translation. In video processing, deep learning has improved action recognition, video summarization, scene understanding, and audiovisual content indexing. Despite these advancements, the complexity of audio and video signals still poses challenges for robust AI solutions.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 25th March 2026.
Why is this Collection important?
“Artificial Intelligence is transforming how we process, interpret, and interact with audio and video data. This Collection highlights innovative research that leverages AI to address long-standing challenges in multimedia understanding, including temporal dynamics, noise robustness, and multimodal integration. We are particularly excited to showcase real-world applications in healthcare, security, entertainment, and accessibility. By bringing together cutting-edge methods and cross-disciplinary insights, the Collection aims to foster a deeper understanding of AI-driven audio and video processing and encourage future developments that are impactful, generalizable, and ethically-informed. We look forward to contributions that push both technical and societal boundaries.” – Fatih Uysal
Why submit to a collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors and In-House Editors who are experts in their fields and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
