Nonequilibrium Medicine (NEM), a proposed integrative framework that views health and disease as dynamic processes in continuously changing biological systems. NEM proposes a 7+3 architecture comprising seven core dimensions—State, Flux, Dissipation, Perturbation, Adaptation, Recovery and Dynamic Resilience—together with three cross-cutting properties: Coupling/Connectivity, Information/Signaling and Time/Temporal Dynamics. The framework aims to provide a common dynamic language connecting biological physics, physiology, systems medicine, network medicine and computational medicine. Rather than replacing established disciplines, NEM seeks to organize their complementary contributions around perturbation, response, adaptation, recovery and resilience. More broadly, NEM raises the possibility that its 7+3 architecture could eventually serve as a potentially universal foundational framework for dynamic medicine, providing a common conceptual structure across diseases, organ systems, biological scales and medical disciplines. Its scientific significance, however, remains a testable proposition requiring operational definitions, measurable variables, quantitative models, experimental validation, independent replication and demonstration of clinically meaningful value. NEM is therefore presented as an open research framework intended to stimulate critical discussion, independent evaluation and collaborative investigation across disciplines.
