January 8th marks the publication of our January 2019 issue: Nature Astronomy is turning two years old (for the nitpickers, our first issue was published on the 4th of January 2017 and our first content appeared online already on the 12th of December 2016!). I can still remember my first day in the office (back in August 2016), when Nature Astronomy was still in the planning and implementation phase. What followed was a few months of rushing, ramping up for the launch of the journal (officially with cake and coffee at the 229th American Astronomical Society meeting in Grapevine, TX). And then suddenly our first issue was out and we were launched (pun intended) into the astronomy and planetary science publishing scene at full speed. A blink (or several) later and here we are, with 24+1 issues under our belt, 179 original research papers and many more pieces of commissioned content (from comments, perspectives and reviews, to research highlights, News & Views and Books & Arts columns).

Compiling a recap that would do justice to everything that we published over the last two years is practically impossible but on the occasion of our second birthday we have prepared a fun website with some of last year's highlights. And if you're curious about the year before that, here is a little primer. With lots of interesting things planned for 2019 (it is the 100th anniversary of the International Astronomical Union and the 150th anniversary of Nature itself!), stay tuned for more!
