If you find that you are unable to save or publish your blog post, there might be a few reasons why. Take a look at some of the troubleshooting tips below, but if you still face issues you can also contact the team.

You may not have completed all required fields

Certain fields must be filled out before you can save and publish your post. These are marked with an asterisk (*), and include the title and content sections of the post. If the ‘Schedule’, ‘Preview’, and ‘Publish’ buttons appear greyed out, please make sure these fields are completed.

Your introduction may be too lengthy

The introduction text has a 300 character limit, shown in the bottom right corner. If you exceed the limit, the number will show how many characters you are over in red, preventing you from saving your post until you adjust the length. Please try shortening the introduction to fit within the limit.

The 'Introduction' section of the post creation page. This is filled with place-holder text and displays the character limit at the bottom right hand corner (which shows that the current text is 201 characters over the limit). At the very bottom, in red letters, the following can be read 'Introduction is too long (maximum 300 characters)’.

You may be pasting the text from an external source

Pasting the text from Word, Google Docs, or other sources can sometimes also bring some unsupported formatting. Where there is an unsupported element, it may cause the ‘Schedule’, ‘Preview’, and ‘Publish’ buttons to become inactive (appear greyed out).

To avoid this, please select ‘Paste as plain text' when you are pasting your text into the Research Communities.
