Stem-cell-based embryo models (SCBEMs) are 2D or 3D structures derived from pluripotent stem cells, guided by mechanical and chemical cues to mimic early embryonic development. They are powerful tools for studying development, disease modeling, drug screening, and regenerative and reproductive medicine. The field is rapidly advancing, with increasingly complex models incorporating embryonic, extraembryonic, and maternal components, aided by innovations in bioengineering, synthetic biology, and cell-instructive biomaterials.

This meeting will highlight the latest SCBEM advancements, showcase cutting-edge tools for modulating dynamic niche signals, and explore applications from understanding early human development to disease processes. By bringing together an interdisciplinary community in this nascent field, the symposium will foster collaboration, consolidate the emerging research , and emphasize the translational potential of SCBEMs for both basic research and clinical applications.
