The New York Times recently published an article on how Silicon Valley philanthropists are disrupting schooling in America. Billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg are encouraging teachers, parents and school administrators to adopt certain technologies and programs in the classroom, often bypassing legislation. Technology can certainly help learning, but are the philanthropists going about it the right way? What are their motives? Is there any evidence behind what they are helping to implement?
The article makes for an interesting read - I'd be keen to know what our teachers (and others!) think about this approach.
