Dr. Fan is a Professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Dr. Fan received PhD degree from National University of Singapore in 2003. During 2003-2006, he conducted postdoc research at Max-Planck-Institute of Microstructure Physics, Germany and in 2006-2008, he worked as Research Associate in the University of Cambridge. Since he joined NTU in 2008, he has been working on exploring materials and understanding their functions in energy conversion and storage processes, including electrocatalysis for hydrogen and carbon fuel generation, and flexible energy devices. Since 2018, his group focuses on developing high-energy-density and low-cost aqueous zinc batteries. 

Dr. Fan widely collaborates. He has co-authored more than 330 journal papers with an H-index of 110. He has been recognized as Highly Cited Researchers consecutively since 2016 by Clarivate Analytics. He serves as Editor or editorial/advisory board for many journals including Materials Today Energy, eScience, Energy and Environmental Sciences, Advanced Science, Small, etc. He has been invited to deliver Invited and Keynote talks in major conferences (MRS, C-MRS, E-MRS, ECS, ABAA, IMLB, etc.).


Transactions of Tianjin University (TTJU) is a bimonthly journal that was first published in 1995. It is indexed by ESCI (IF 6.7, JCR Q1), EI, Scopus, CA, CSA, AJ and other databases. The journal mainly reports the important and innovative research achievements in the field of Advanced Energy Chemistry and Materials. The scope of the journal is broad. Topics published include but not limit to: Solar energy utilization, Hydrogen production and storage, CO2 capture and conversion, Fuel cells, Batteries and supercapacitors, Catalysis, Clean utilization of coal and oil, Biofuels, Energy policy, etc.
