💡 What is your best lab hack? 💡
Every researcher has a few smart hacks up their sleeve!
Nature Careers have recently gathered 99 of the best lab hacks from scientists around the world. It covers all sorts, including folding over autoclave tape and helping ‘revise and resubmit’ days with doughnuts.
We’d love to hear about your own lab hacks!
What’s your go to tip or hack in the lab?
Have you found a creative way to research more efficient, enjoyable or sustainable?
Have you got a fun ritual that helps your team stay motivated?
Share your best ideas below, your tip might make someone’s research life that little bit easier 😊

🤖Is using AI in research helpful or harmful? 🤖
AI tools like ChatGPT and Copilot are becoming part of research workflows, but opinions of using them are mixed.
Our recent surveys show that over half of PhD students (53%) and nearly a third of postdocs (31%) use AI for tasks like summarising literature, refining text, or coding. However, 81% of PhD students say they do not fully trust the outputs, and many researchers want clear guidance on ethical use and disclosure. Privacy concerns also limit what data they share.
We’d love to hear your thoughts:
Are you using AI tools in your research? For what tasks?
Do you trust the outputs? Why or why not?
What guidelines or best practices would make you feel more confident using AI?
What is one AI tool you have genuinely found helpful?
