About Hafte Gebreselassie Gebrihet

Hafte Gebrihet is an Associate Professor in Development Studies at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences in Bergen. He held a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance at the University of Cape Town and lectured at Adigrat University in Ethiopia. His PhD from Stellenbosch University examined urban land reform in Ethiopia and advanced debates on democratic governance and policy reform while also engaging with questions of sustainable development. His research covers health economics, governance and corruption, political as well as ethnic polarisation, food insecurity, and human security in conflict-affected societies. Gebrihet’s work appears in international journals such as the Brazilian Journal of Public Administration, the International Journal of Sociology and Social Policy, Discover Food, Politikon, and Transforming Government, and he has presented at global conferences and delivered guest lectures at Leiden University, Stellenbosch University, and HVL. He has secured competitive research funding from Transparency International, the German Academic Exchange Service, the University of Cape Town, and Aksum University, and he is active in professional networks that include COMPETE (HVL), Ethiopian Economic Association, and the Academy in Exile at TU Dortmund.
