About Maria Salazar-Roa
María Salazar-Roa is Associate Professor (Profesora Titular) of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Complutense University of Madrid and Principal Investigator of the Cancer STEM Lab. She earned her Ph.D. in 2011 and completed postdoctoral training at premier national and international institutions, including Harvard Medical School, MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit (Dundee, UK), and CNIO. Her research integrates cancer biology, stem cell differentiation, and -recently- biophysical approaches to uncover novel anti-tumor paradigms. As a recipient of the prestigious Ramón y Cajal and I3/R3 excellence awards, she leads the lab while also being deeply committed to higher education, teaching in the Biochemistry undergraduate degree and multiple Master’s programmes. She also plays an active leadership role in knowledge transfer, science outreach, and the ELEVEN initiative, which empowers women in STEAM.
