About Murat Kucukvar
Murat Kucukvar is a Professor of Sustainable Business at the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver. His research and teaching focus on advanced sustainability assessment, sustainable business practices, sustainable technologies, circular economy, and sustainability analytics and reporting. Recognized as one of the world’s most highly cited researchers in his field, as listed in the Scopus Database, Dr. Kucukvar's work spans life cycle sustainability assessment, carbon footprint accounting, industrial sustainability, e-mobility, and sustainable supply chains and operations.
He has authored numerous publications in prestigious interdisciplinary journals, including NATURE Communications, Business Strategy and the Environment, Operations Management Research, Journal of Industrial Ecology, Sustainability Science, Energy Strategy Reviews, and Sustainable Development—all highly cited in the fields of energy, environment, sustainability, and management.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kucukvar has successfully managed projects exceeding $3 million in value, focusing on areas such as sustainability assessment of emerging technologies, energy, transportation, food, carbon footprint accounting and ESG reporting, and sustainable supply chain management. These projects were funded by QNRF, government ministries, and business partners. He is also the founding partner of the Sustainable Systems Solutions Lab (S3Lab) start-up, which provides professional analytics, reporting, and training services to corporate clients.
Dr. Kucukvar has co-authored over 150 academic papers and has supervised more than 30 graduate students, including master's and executive Ph.D. candidates. In 2024-2021, he was ranked among the top 2% of scientists globally in the fields of Energy, Environmental Sciences, and Sustainability by a global ranking published by Stanford University, USA.
