The Journal of Medical Imaging and Interventional Radiology (JMIR) is an international fully open access journal launched by Springer Nature in 2024 as an official publication of the Italian Society of Medical and Interventional Radiology (SIRM). The journal is a peer-reviewed publication dedicated to advancing the field of radiology and its applications in medical diagnosis, imaging techniques, and interventional procedures. It welcomes all articles presenting solid data, strong methods and high ethical standards irrespective of perceived significance to provide a broad overview for practitioners in the field. Find out more in our aims and scope.
JMIR aims to provide a fast, reliable and inclusive publishing service while maintaining integrity at the heart of everything we do. Joining JMIR as an International Advisory Board member means you will not only have an exciting opportunity to become part of a new and growing journal, but you will also play an active, critical and dynamic role in supporting your peers in your community.
The journal does not make editorial decisions on the basis of the interest of a study or its likely impact. Studies must be scientifically valid; for research articles this includes a scientifically sound research question, the use of suitable methods and analysis, and following community-agreed standards relevant to the research field.
Who are we looking for?
We welcome international candidates who are committed to advancing open access, promoting data sharing, and driving innovation in scientific publishing.
Suitable candidates should:
- Have a minimum of fifteen (15) research papers published in reputable, English language, peer-reviewed journals;
- Be listed as corresponding author (first or last author) during the last five years;
- Have demonstrable expertise that fits within the scope and the need of the journal.
As an Advisory Board Member, you will be asked to support the journal by:
- Revising submitted papers and recommending editorial decisions;
- Supporting authors and the journal by reinforcing an inclusive ethos: quality, integrity, relevance are essential for consideration - novelty and impact are nice to have, but not required;
- Contributing relevant papers to JMIR and attracting submissions to the journal by inviting your peers to submit;
- Advocating for Journal of Medical Imaging and Interventional Radiology within your regional community and network to increase awareness of publications, collections and other developments on the journal;
- Sharing your advice on the strategic development priorities for the journal, and participating in our community discussions, outreach and board meetings when possible.
