Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Human morality in the age of AI.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping how humans make moral decisions, from everyday choices to applications affecting entire societies. Yet challenges around fairness, accountability, and alignment with human values remain. Studies that investigate human biases, transparency, and the role of human oversight in AI decision-making are needed.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. Narrative review articles are also welcomed, to our sister journal Scientific Reviews. We are welcoming submissions until 29th May 2027.
Why is this Collection important?
"Human morality is being increasingly shaped by AI systems that participate in decisions with profound ethical and societal consequences. Understanding how AI influences moral judgment, responsibility, agency, and human oversight is essential to ensuring that these technologies remain aligned with human values. I am particularly excited about this Collection because it brings together perspectives that can bridge cognitive science, psychology, ethics, and AI research. Its impact could be to advance our understanding of how humans adapt their moral decisions in the presence of AI. The Collection offers a timely interdisciplinary forum to address these emerging challenges."
- Dr. Adriana Salatino, Guest Editor
Why submit to a collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
