Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Intelligent complex systems.
Recent advances in AI and data-driven methods provide new opportunities for intelligent coordination and decision-making in complex systems. In large-scale cyber-physical systems, decision-making is not centralised but distributed across interacting autonomous and/or semi-autonomous agents that must coordinate their actions while operating under uncertainty, limited information and dynamic environments.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. Narrative review articles are also welcomed, to our sister journal Scientific Reviews. We are welcoming submissions until 28th April 2027.
Why is this Collection important?
"Intelligent complex systems become ever more important as large cyber-physical systems depend on multiple distributed autonomous or semi-autonomous agents that must coordinate and make decisions in the presence of uncertainty, limited information, or under dynamic conditions. This collection is a particularly attractive one to me because it combines the AI approach of coordination with multi-agent intelligence and real-world physical-system validation. Developing more intelligent decision-making and coordination methods for the collection in complex systems would help. Researchers should submit because the special issue provides a timely opportunity to present high-quality, original, rapidly transferable results on intelligent complex systems worldwide, addressing emerging research gaps and challenges."
- Dr. Krishnaveni Sivamohan, Guest Editor
Why submit to a collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
Who is involved?
Guest Editors:
- Andrés González, University of Oklahoma, USA
- Idelfonso Nogueira, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Department of Chemical Engineering, Norway
- Krishnaveni Sivamohan, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, India
Internal Team:
- In-House Editor: Lingyi Xu, Scientific Reports, China
- Commissioning Editor: Louisa Beckett, Fully OA Brands, Springer Nature, UK
- Managing Editor: Aliya Anwar, Fully OA Brands, Springer Nature, UK
