Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Radiation shielding.
Radiation shielding is crucial in protecting both human health and sensitive equipment from harmful ionising radiation. This field has gained significant attention due to its applications in medical imaging, nuclear power plants, space exploration, and radiation therapy. Advances in materials science, nanotechnology, and computational modelling have driven the development of more effective and efficient shielding solutions; researchers from academia and industry are exploring advanced materials including lead-free composites and high-density polymers to enhance radiation attenuation while minimising weight and cost. Additionally, the integration of smart technologies and adaptive shielding systems promises to revolutionise radiation protection strategies.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 16th June 2026.
