Every year, thousands of researchers across all disciplines tell us how they handle, share, and think about research data. This effort, now the longest-running and largest survey of its kind globally, has become an essential resource for understanding how open research practices are evolving on the ground.

But we know that progress isn’t always linear. New policies emerge, platforms change, expectations grow, and the practicalities of managing data remain as complex as ever. That’s why your experiences matter; whether they reflect enthusiasm, hesitation, or a mix of the two.

Take the survey now and help us reflect, learn, and move forward together.

This year’s survey is especially meaningful. With a decade of responses behind us, we’ll be able to look at trends over time and better understand where the global research community is headed. Your input will feed directly into a major white paper to be published in late 2025, featuring expert commentary alongside the longitudinal data.

What’s in it for you?

  • A chance to share your real-world challenges and successes

  • The opportunity to shape how publishers, funders, and institutions support open data

  • Entry into a prize draw to win one of five $100 Gift Cards

  • And most importantly, your contribution to the collective voice shaping the future of open research

The survey only takes about 10 minutes and is completely anonymous.

Closes: 15 July 2025

If you have any questions about the survey or how the results are used, feel free to reach out to audience.research@springernature.com.
