What is this collection about?
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education is reshaping teaching and learning. As AI technologies, such as machine learning algorithms and large language models, continue to evolve, they offer new opportunities to enhance educational experiences while also raising important challenges.
This Collection highlights research on diverse applications of AI in education, including personalized learning, classroom assessment tools, and AI-driven language learning technologies. It also welcomes studies that address the ethical implications of AI to ensure responsible and equitable use in educational contexts. The Collection is interdisciplinary, bringing together perspectives from psychology, education, and computational research. Submissions are welcomed from all authors whose work aligns with the scope of the participating journals.
Why is this collection important?
AI is rapidly transforming how education is delivered and experienced, with the potential to personalise learning, improve learning assessment, and expand access to knowledge. At the same time, these developments raise questions around fairness, ethics, and the responsible use of emerging technologies.
This Collection is particularly timely as it seeks to capture both the opportunities and risks associated with AI in education. By bringing together interdisciplinary research across educational, psychological, and computational domains, it aims to advance understanding of how AI can be effectively and equitably integrated into learning environments.
This Collection supports and amplifies research related to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education, highlighting its relevance to global educational development.
