Collection Overview 

Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Celiac disease.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten ingestion, causing intestinal damage and varied symptoms. Rising rates and delayed diagnosis contribute to complications such as malabsorption, anemia, and autoimmune disorders. Current research addresses genetic risk, immune mechanisms, non‑dietary therapies, biomarker development, and improved diagnostic and care strategies. 

This will be a Collection of original research papers  and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 22nd January 2026.

Why is this Collection important?

"Celiac disease remains a major public health challenge, affecting approximately 1% of the population worldwide, while many individuals remain undiagnosed. I am particularly excited about this collection because it provides an opportunity to bring together research on screening, disease prediction, environmental determinants, genetics, and prevention. Advances in these areas have the potential to identify individuals at risk before clinical disease develops and ultimately improve health outcomes. This Collection will serve as a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation, helping researchers share findings that can advance our understanding of celiac disease and move the field toward earlier detection and prevention strategies."
