Call for papers: Dementia and motor skills Collection
Published in Sustainability and Behavioural Sciences & Psychology
Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Dementia and motor skills.
Cognitive and motor skills decline with ageing. Motor skill difficulties might even precede cognitive impairment and are often considered a preclinical sign of dementia. The onset of dementia might then further affect motor skills. However, it is often difficult to determine whether changes in motor function are age-related or associated with increased risk for dementia.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 31st July 2026.
Why is this Collection important?
"I am excited about this Collection because I believe the ability to acquire and retain motor skill will help us better understand Dementia in the context of risk, progression, and monitoring. I believe this special collection will help shift perspective within the field of Dementia research, specifically how the measurement of motor skill learning can provide unique, yet critical, information to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of Dementia. This area of research is ripe for discovery, and the field of motor skill is a diverse landscape where contributions to this topic can come in many forms."
- Dr. Andrew Hooyman, Guest Editor
Why submit to a collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
