Call for papers: Engineered allografts for regenerative medicine Collection
Published in Bioengineering & Biotechnology and Sustainability
Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Engineered allografts for regenerative medicine.
Engineered allografts are donor tissues processed to remove cellular components while preserving the extracellular matrix, creating a biocompatible scaffold for tissue repair. These grafts are widely used in orthopedic, dental, and reconstructive procedures to support bone and soft tissue regeneration. Techniques such as decellularisation and sterilisation help reduce immunogenicity and improve safety, while preserving structural integrity essential for tissue repair. Engineered allografts provide a reliable alternative to autografts, minimising donor site morbidity and enabling predictable clinical outcomes in regenerative medicine.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. Narrative review articles are also welcomed, to our sister journal Scientific Reviews. We are welcoming submissions until 31st December 2026.
Why is this Collection important?
"This Collection will focus on the latest advancements in engineered allografts, their clinical challenges, and the regulatory pathways for their use in humans. We plan to focus on case studies and relevant work in regenerative medicine. We are inviting the researchers to submit their articles to the Nature Portfolio."
- Dr. Ashutosh D. Bagde, Guest Editor
Why submit to a collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
Who is involved?
Guest Editors:
- Ashutosh Bagde, Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research, India
- Byoung Soo Kim, Pusan National University, South Korea
- Mai Lam, Wayne State University, USA
Internal Team:
- In-House Editor: Shital Bonde, Scientific Reports, UK
- Commissioning Editor: Robert Moran, Fully OA Brands, Springer Nature, UK
- Managing Editor: Eleanor Smith, Fully OA Brands, Springer Nature, UK
How can I submit my paper?
