Call for papers: Industrial uses and benefits of blockchain applications
Published in Computational Sciences and Mechanical Engineering
Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Industrial uses and benefits of blockchain applications.
Blockchain technology is transforming industrial operations by enabling secure, transparent, and decentralized data management across supply chains, manufacturing, energy distribution, and logistics. Its core features, like immutability, traceability, and smart contract automation, support real-time auditing, fraud prevention, and streamlined compliance. Industries are leveraging blockchains to enhance trust, reduce operational costs, and foster collaboration.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 28th May 2026.
Why is this Collection important?
"Blockchain’s industrial adoption is moving from pilots to production, unlocking trusted data sharing, automated compliance, and verifiable provenance across supply chains, energy, healthcare, and manufacturing. This topic matters because interoperable, audit-ready workflows reduce fraud, waste, and latency while enabling new business models. I am excited by the convergence of blockchain with IoT, AI, and digital twins to deliver measurable, real-world outcomes. This Collection can benchmark best practices, surface scalable architectures, and clarify policy/standards. Researchers should submit to shape the agenda with rigorous evidence, reproducible tooling, and case studies that bridge theory and deployment." - Dr. Raja Waseem Anwar
This Collection also supports and amplifies research related to SDG 9 – Industry, innovation & infrastructure.
Why submit to a Collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
