Call for papers: Methods and technologies in nutrition research Collection
Published in Healthcare & Nursing
Collection Overview
Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Methods and technologies in nutrition research.
Advances in analytical methods, data science, and emerging technologies are transforming nutrition research. Accurate assessment of dietary intake, nutritional status, and metabolic responses is essential to understanding the complex relationships between diet and health. Research in this field may include, but not be limited to, big data and machine learning in nutrition, personalised nutrition and precision approaches, integration of multi-omics, and development of tools to assess gut microbial composition.
This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 23rd June 2026.
Why is this Collection important?
"This Collection is highly relevant because advances in analytical methods, data science, and emerging technologies are rapidly transforming how we understand diet–health relationships. Innovative tools such as multi-omics, gut microbiome analysis, machine learning, and precision nutrition approaches are redefining how nutritional status, metabolic responses, and personalized interventions are assessed.
We are excited about this Collection because it brings together cutting-edge methodologies that address both practical and conceptual challenges in nutrition research. It offers a unique opportunity to showcase novel technological solutions that can improve data accuracy, integration, and interpretation.
The impact of this Collection is expected to be significant by accelerating the adoption of advanced analytical and computational tools in nutrition science, strengthening evidence-based decision-making, and fostering innovation across research, clinical, and public health settings.
Researchers should submit to this Collection because it provides high visibility within a focused scientific community, rapid dissemination of innovative work, and a dedicated platform for studies that push the boundaries of how nutrition research is conducted today."

"Advances in analytical methods, data science, and emerging technologies are transforming nutrition research. Accurate assessment of dietary intake, nutritional status, and metabolic responses is essential to understanding the complex relationships between diet and health. Diet is no longer considered to be only a source of energy, but also can impact health conditions. Nutrigenomics is an emerging field where we try to use various omics tools to understand the impact of food on our genes and ultimately how poor diet can lead to health conditions. As such this topic is of tremendous importance."

Why submit to a collection?
Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.
Who is involved?
