Collection Overview

Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Radioisotopes for imaging and therapy

Along with the development of 18F- and 68Ga-labeled PET agents, radioisotopes have enabled precise diagnostic imaging across diverse clinical applications. Similarly, radiotherapy, a long-established anti-cancer treatment, is renovating due to recent advances in cell-targeted isotope probes and highly specific Boron neutron therapy.

This will be a Collection of original research papers  and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 14th April 2026.

Why is this Collection important?

"This topic is vital because developing radioisotopes for advanced diagnostics and therapies offers one of the most promising paths toward curing cancer through early detection and highly targeted treatment. I’m excited about this collection—it’s my first, and from a patient’s point of view, it feels incredibly cutting-edge and meaningful. I hope it brings together the strongest minds in the field to provide real insight into how close we are to defeating cancer. Researchers should submit to this collection because it offers a focused platform to share their work while contributing to a wider, forward-looking conversation on this transformative area."

- Dr. Lara Cavinato, Guest Editor

Why submit to a collection?

Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.

Who is involved?

Guest Editors:

  • Lara Cavinato, MOX Laboratory, Department of Mathematics, Politecnico di Milano, Italy
  • Mukesh K Pandey, Department of Radiology, Department of Pharmacology and Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, USA
  • Chai Hong Yeong, Taylor’s University, Malaysia

Internal Team:

  • In-House Editor: Junxia WangScientific Reports, UK
  • Commissioning Editor: Charlotte Ben Romdhane, Fully OA Brands, Springer Nature, UK
  • Managing Editor: Ioanna Pitsidianaki, Fully OA Brands, Springer Nature, UK
