Secondary infection occurs when a pathogen overcomes the immune defenses of a previously infected host. A new Guest Edited Collection at Scientific Reports explores this phenomenon.

The Reinfection Collection invites studies on the epidemiological, immunological, demographic, and genetic factors that influence reinfection, and on the dynamics between pathogens and previously infected hosts.

The Collection is open for submissions of original research articles in this area until the end of June 2022. For information on the submission process and our Guest Edited Collection policies, see our Calls for Papers page.
