Collection Overview

Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Semiconductor optoelectronic devices.

Semiconductor optoelectronic devices are at the forefront of technological innovation, enabling advancements in communication, sensing, and energy. Topics include LEDs, photodetectors, and solar cells. By advancing the field of optoelectronics, this Collection aims to drive progress in various high-tech industries.

This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 30th April 2026.

Why is this Collection important?

"The interdisciplinary topic of "semiconductor optoelectronic devices' encompasses a broad subject area with practical applications in display platforms, energy conversion devices, sensors, memory and many more. With the emergence of newer materials and better characterization facilities, scientific advances have gathered more pace in such interdisciplinary research topics. This special Collection encourages researchers to submit their articles in all aspects of semiconductor research that would impact both the very fundamental understanding as well as in advanced applications. Our endeavor is to promote new and impactful research rapidly in the above areas." - Dr. Parameswar K. Iyer

This Collection also supports and amplifies research related to SDG 9 – Industry, innovation & infrastructure.

Why submit to a Collection?

Collections like this one help promote high-quality science. They are led by Guest Editors, who are experts in their fields, and In-House Editors and are supported by a dedicated team of Commissioning Editors and Managing Editors at Springer Nature. Collection manuscripts typically see higher citations, downloads, and Altmetric scores, and provide a one-stop-shop on a cutting-edge topic of interest.

Who is involved?

Guest Editors:

  • Tito Busani, University Of New Mexico, USA
  • Haixin Chang, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China
  • Kin Kee Chow, Manchester Metropolitan University, UK
  • Parameswar K. Iyer, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India

Internal Team:

  • In-House Editor: Dr. Thomas TischerScientific Reports, Germany
  • Commissioning Editor: Faija Miah, Fully OA Brands, Springer Nature, UK
