Collection Overview

Scientific Reports has launched a Guest-Edited Collection on Underwater and underground wireless sensor networks.

Underwater and underground wireless sensor networks (UWSNs and UGWSNs), which are especially important for environmental monitoring, require innovative solutions for data collection in challenging environments. These networks rely on novel technologies to ensure reliable communication and efficient operation despite harsh conditions such as acoustic and magnetic induction-based data transmission. The focus for such networks is on robust sensor nodes and communication strategies that can withstand harsh water and soil conditions and provide valuable data for environmental studies that can be used in agriculture and for infrastructure development.

This will be a Collection of original research papers and will be open for submissions from all authors – on the condition that the manuscripts fall within the scope of the Collection and of Scientific Reports more generally. We are welcoming submissions until 16th February 2026.
