Combating Child Sexual Exploitation on the Dark Web: Technical, Legal, and Psychological Perspectives
Published in Social Sciences
Criminal organizations are exploiting the Dark Web’s advantages, such as its confidential nature and user tracking difficulty, to conduct illegal activities against children without oversight or legal accountability. This urgent issue, which cannot be overstated, demands immediate and swift action. The research aims to shed light on these illegal activities against children across the dark web and discuss immediate ways to combat them in the face of technical and legal challenges. The chapter emphasizes the need for international cooperation and concerted efforts to combat cybercriminal activities against children through the dark network. It suggests strengthening security coordination, expanding bilateral and multilateral security agreements, and establishing specialized units to combat dark web crimes. Interpol’s role in coordinating between these units should be strengthened, and law enforcement agencies should receive technical support and advanced training to conduct dark web investigations. Technical solutions such as information mining tools, network crawlers, analytical tools, and blockchain software should be developed to monitor and detect crimes against children committed on the dark web.
