Do you have a general interest or expertise in the area of biophysics? Do you want to get some invaluable experience editing international, high-impact journals for your CV, or to otherwise engage more with the scientific community? The below open opportunities may be of interest to you.

Any interested candidates please supply:

1. A most recent CV, highlighting any relevant publications to the post you are applying for

2. A short 2 paragraph statement indicating why you should be considered for this opportunity and what you will bring to the journal.

Please contact joshua.bayliss@springernature.com for all applications and/or questions. Regrettably, it will not be possible to reply to all applications and if you have not heard from us after a month, then you have not been successful in the initial candidate triage.

Reviews Editor - Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics

https://link.springer.com/journal/12013

Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics is an international journal with a broad-scope,  focussing on the biochemical and or biophysical mechanisms that control cellular, physiological homeostasis.

The Reviews Editor, which is a new role, will be tasked with developing the reviews article pipeline for the journal, ensuring that the journal is set to publish at least 4 high-quality review articles each year. This will be a key part of the journal's ongoing strategy to increase impact and ensure it publishes quality content for a broad audience.

The role will require someone with a sufficient network, broad interests, and influencing ability to encourage colleagues to submit review papers to the journal. In addition, the role will involve considerable collaboration with the publisher and the Editor-in-Chief, so sufficient time (especially in the outset) will be necessary.

Deputy Editor - Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes

https://link.springer.com/journal/10863

Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes is seeking a deputy editor or senior editor to work alongside the publisher and the Editor-in-Chief to further grow the journal in high-impact areas, especially from Europe and or North America (but not limited to).

The journal has a broad focus but has recently turned some of its focus to publishing content on human health, especially those which have been identified as major non-communicable diseases by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as cancer, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Huntington's, given their reliance on healthy ion channel pathways.

The successful candidate will have a general desire to help further shape the journal's focus and output in such a way that keeps it relevant in the long-term, and thus is happy and available to experiment with webinars, special collections, article commissioning and other strategies alongside the Editor-in-Chief and the publisher.

The role will be a senior one in the journal, working alongside a pre-established editorial structure and board. You will be encouraged to bring in new ideas, strategies and network for the journal but it is important to note that this must be done in collaboration with the existing team, so collaborative spirit and being prepared for an iterative approach will be necessary in the outset.

Notes

Please note that all successful candidates will be required to sign a contract with Springer Nature, for an initial short term of no less than a year. Renewal of the contract, for a longer term, will be at the sole discretion of the publisher.

Please contact joshua.bayliss@springernature.com for all applications and/or questions.
