In this video, three of our authors: Prof. Yasutomo Ota, Prof. Satoshi Iwamoto, and Prof. Yasuhiko Arakawa tell us about their study recently published in Communications Physics,  Topological photonic crystal nanocavity laser. In their interview with us they tell us why they chose the journal and how a technology originally used for phonons has been implemented for new developments in photonic crystals. In the video they also showcase some of the laboratory equipment used for their experiment, something that is generally not presented in a written article.  Watch the video to meet the authors and learn more about their research. I joined Nature Research in July 2017 as a Chief Editor for Communications Physics, a new open access journal in the Nature Research family launched that year. Prior to joining Springer Nature I was an executive editor for New Journal of Physics. My background is in Astrophysics and Space Sciences, with a PhD from Paris VI and CEA-Saclay and postdoctoral work at Bristol and Cambridge Universities.
