About Ashley York
Ashley earned a first class degree in Biology from University College London, UK, before completing a DPhil at the University of Oxford. His doctoral research at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, under the supervision of Ervin Fodor, focused on the molecular mechanisms of influenza virus genome replication. He then joined the Laboratory of Retrovirology at The Rockefeller University in New York City, USA, as a Postdoctoral Fellow, working with Paul Bieniasz to investigate intrinsic immune proteins that restrict HIV infection. In 2016, Ashley moved into scientific publishing, joining Nature Reviews Microbiology as an Associate Editor. He later became Senior Editor and Acting Chief Editor before being appointed Chief Editor in 2022.
