Ali Emrouznejad is a Professor and Chair in Business Analytics at Surrey Business School, UK, where he also directs the Centre for Business Analytics in Practice. His research spans performance measurement and management, efficiency and productivity analysis, as well as AI and big data. Previously, he led the Business Analytics Group at Aston University.

He earned his MSc in Applied Mathematics and later a PhD in Operational Research and Systems from Warwick Business School, UK. After completing his PhD in Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) in 1998, he joined the development team for Performance Indicators (PI) in Higher Education (HE) at the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). These indicators, now published annually by HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency), have become highly recognized within the field.

Ali Emrouznejad has been acknowledged by Stanford University as one of the top 2% of the world’s most influential scientists. With an h-index of over 80, he was named among the “World Top 100 Business & Management / Business Administration Scientists 2024.” He is a Fellow of several prestigious institutions, including the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (FIMA), the Institute for Sustainability, and the Institute for People-Centred Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, he is a member of the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Talent Peer Review College.

Professor Emrouznejad has collaborated on numerous research projects funded by notable organizations, including the Department for Education and Skills (DfES), Royal Academy of Engineering, British Council, Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), WHO-Africa (World Health Organization), and the European Union (Regional Development Funds). He has published over 250 articles in top-ranked journals, is the editor of the Springer book series Business Analytics in Practice, and has authored or edited several books. Additionally, he serves as an editor, associate editor, or editorial board member for multiple scientific journals.
