About Arcangela Iuso
Arcangela Iuso is a scientist at the Helmholtz Munich (HMGU) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Her research focus is neurometabolic disorders, primarily Neurodegeneration with Brain Iron Accumulation (NBIA) and rare disorders metabolically linked to NBIA (PPCS, SLC25A42 deficiency). Iuso has successfully established a number of cellular and animal models for NBIA and related disorders and investigated the effects that pathogenic variants in causal genes have on cellular processes. Iuso’s ultimate goal is to identify and test potential therapeutic approaches in pre-clinical models.
